I was a fourth-year architecture student at OSU when I purchased my ’64 C2 Corvette from Maxton’s. Don, the salesman, was a fraternity brother of mine. My parents didn’t want me to buy the car, but when the bank approved the loan, they had no choice but to go along with it - on one condition: “You can live and eat here, but you’ll have to pay for tuition, books, fraternity, beer, etc. on your own.” About four months later, Don entered the home-building industry and hired me to draw plans for him, essentially paying me enough to cover the car payments. A year later, our work was featured in House & Home Magazine.

In 1965, I met Karen. We were engaged on our third date. After our son, Scott, was born, I sold the ’64 C2 and we bought a new ’68 GTO. Since then, we have owned an ’84 C4 and a ’97 C5, each with its own life story. In 2006, we purchased the ’06 C6, which we still have today. In 2009, Greg, the owner at that time, found me and brought the ’64 C2 back through Columbus from NCRS / Bloomington Gold, leading to an incredible reunion for Karen and me.

In 2017, I learned the ’64 C2 was for sale once again, and it returned home to us that July. Karen and I have now been married for 60 years and have two sons, Scott and JT. Karen is a retired teacher, and I am a semi-retired architect. I previously served as President of Street Elite and was a board member but stepped away for a few years to care for my mother-in-law, who has since passed. I continued to see the club at car shows and on Facebook, so I decided to sign back up.
